*******************************************************

------------------------------------------------------------
IF YOU HAVE INSTALLED AN EARLIER VERSION OF THE PLX 9050SDK COMM DRIVER:

If you have installed an earlier version of a PLX 9050SDK comm driver, you should delete or "hide" all PLX installer (.INF) and PLX driver (.VXD) files before installing the new driver. Note: On your hard disk, the INF files take on the name OEMn.INF, where n is replaced by a number that represents the nth OEM driver installed on your computer. (INF files from OEMs are renamed automatically by the Windows 95 installer program.)

In a typical installation, the PLX driver file will be found in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM, and it is named PLXSER.VXD. You should delete this driver, or "hide" it by changing the extension, as in PLXSER.INX. Your installation may be different, and may contain multiple copies, so you should search your entire hard disk for all PLX VXD files, and delete or hide them all. Search using PLX*.VXD.

PLX INF files are more difficult to find. Typically, the PLX INF file on the PLX distribution diskette is renamed OEMn.INF (where n is replaced by a number that represents the nth OEM device installed on your computer) on your hard disk. It is usually found in the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory. Since the file names do not indicate the name of the OEM, you will have to open every OEMn.INF, and check them for references to PLX. INF files are text-readable files, so you can use a text editor to read them. A better alternative is to use the Windows Explorer/Finder's advanced search features to search the entire hard disk for all INF files containing the string "PLX". All occurances of the PLX INF files should be deleted or "hidden" by renaming them, as in PLX.INX

Note: if you do hide or delete an INF file, you will probably see Windows put up an information box titled "Building driver information database" the next time you boot Windows.
------------------------------------------------------------

During driver installation, in an information box titled "New Hardware Found", you will see a series of messages:

	PCI Card
[You will probably be prompted to insert a driver diskette at this point]
	PLX 9050 SDK Bus
	Unknown Device
	Communications Port

The third message, "Unknown Device", should not appear. This is a cosmetic problem, and no action needs to be taken.
