Program: PCS Maintenance Console

A. Installation
---------------

1. Create a directory in a selected drive, for example: C:\ACWIN.

2. Copy all the files from the 2 floppy disks to the directory.

3. In Windows:

	a. Windows 3.11 - in Program Manager, select "File" menu, and then select
	                  "New..." menuitem.

	                - the "New Program Object" dialog appears, select "Program
	                  Group", and click "OK".

	                - the "Program Group Properties" dialog appears, type
	                  "ACWin" in "Description" edit box, and click "OK".

	                - while the "ACWin" group window is active, select
	                  "File" menu in Program Manager, and then select "New..."
	                  menuitem.

	                - the "New Program Object" dialog appears, select "Program
	                  Item", and click "OK".

	                - the "Program Item Properties" dialog appears, click on
	                  "Browse".

	                - the "Browse" dialog box appears, in the directory listbox,
	                  look for the directory where PCS Console is located (e.g.
	                  C:\ACWIN), and double-click on it.
	                  In the file name listbox, look for "ACWIN.EXE", click on
	                  it, and click "OK" button.

	                - the full path and filename of the console appears in the
	                  "Command Line" edit box of the "Program Item Properties"
	                  dialog, click on "OK" button, and the "ACWIN" icon
	                  appears in the "ACWin" group window.

	                - double-click on the icon to execute the program.

	b. Windows 95 - in the Desktop area, use the right mouse button and click
	                on the Desktop.

	              - a pop-up menu appears, select "New", and select "Shortcut".

	              - the "Create Shortcut" dialog appears, click on "Browse..."
	                button.

	              - the "Browse" dialog appears, look for the directory where
	                PCS Console is located (e.g. C:\ACWIN), and double-click
	                on it.

	              - the list box is updated with the files in the PCS
	                Console directory.  Look for "ACWIN.EXE" and double-click
	                on it, the "Browse" dialog disappears.

	              - the full path and filename of the Console appears in the
	                "Command Line" edit box of the "Create Shortcut" dialog.

	              - click on "Next" button, and then click on "Finish" button,
	                the "ACWIN.EXE" icon appears on the Desktop area.

	              - double-click on the icon to execute the program.


B. Before Connecting
--------------------

1. On the PCS Maintenance Console menu, select "Configuration", and select
   "Console Configuration" menuitem.

2. The "Console Configuration" screen appears, make appropriate selections for
   "Direct Access", "Port", and "Dial Type".
   
   Type in a correct "Predial String", e.g. "9,".
   
   If there is no default "Initialization String", type in
   "AT E1Q0V1X3&C1&D2 S0=0".
   
   Click on "Close" button, the Console will prompt you to save the changes.

   Click on "Yes" button to save them.

3. On the PCS Maintenance Console menu, select "Connection", and select
   "Connect/Account" menuitem.

4. The "Connect to Control Unit" screen appears.  For direct connection, select
   "LOCAL" in the list box.  For modem connection, select "REMOTE".
   
   Typical entries for a System Account are:

		LOCAL  - Access Type:					Direct
		       - Modem Connection Timer (sec):	(Not Used)
		       - Phone:							(Not Used)
		       - Maximum Transmitters (0-128):	(depends on the number of devices)
		       - Baud Rate:						9600
		       - Parity:						None
		       - Data Bits:						8 Bits
		       - Stop Bits:						1 Bit

		REMOTE - Access Type:					Modem
		       - Modem Connection Timer (sec):	25
		       - Phone:							(for example: 123-4567)
		       - Maximum Transmitters (0-128):	(depends on the number of devices)
		       - Baud Rate:						1200
		       - Parity:						None
		       - Data Bits:						8 Bits
		       - Stop Bits:						1 Bit

5. Type in an appropriate password in the "Password" edit box, and click on
   "Connect" button.  The Console will prompt you to save the changes, click
   on "Yes" button.  The Console will save the changes and start the connection.
