Ape2 and Ape3

Where Ape1 used a 16x16 input grid and and is designed to work well with a touch screen, Ape2 and Ape3 use a specially shaped 5 position touch pad. The positions are labeled Top, Bottom, Left, Right and Center. Its simplicity makes it easy to implement and its shape makes it suitable for double duty as a directional keypad.

Ape2 uses a character set nearly identical to Ape1, so it is quite easy to learn, however it is somewhat more position dependent.

Ape3 uses an entirely new character set for the letters a-z. These new characters are specially designed to allow easy continuous and rapid character entry and recognition. Each character flows into the next to allow whole word entry without lifing the pen. I like to think of it as computer shorthand.
