We believe that you will be very satisfied with Vfeature's
ease of installation and compatibility. If you do encounter
any problems, however, you may call on our technical support
group for assistance at this number:

		  (619) 298-9349 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (PST)
				  Monday through Friday

If you call us, be prepared to provide us with the version
number and serial number of your Vfeature Deluxe--from the
label of your master diskette, the type and manufacturer's
name of your computer, and the name and version number of
the operating system you are using.
..,1f

Please review your Vfeature Deluxe User's Guide before beginning
installation of the product. Be sure you have backed-up any files
presently stored on your hard disk before beginning installation
	of Vfeature Deluxe.

Before beginning installation of Vfeature Deluxe, you must:

	A. Lock the master diskette supplied with this product - This
procedure configures Vfeature Deluxe to your particular hard
disk controller type. If you later change to a new type of
controller, you will need to relock the master diskette to
	    the new controller.

	B. Prepare a working Vfeature Deluxe diskette - This procedure
creates a new diskette containing a copy of Vfeature Deluxe
configured to your particular PC-DOS or MS-DOS operating
	    system requirements.

The above steps, as well as the actual installation process, are
described in your User's Guide in detail.
..,1f

Remember to retain your working Vfeature Deluxe diskette following
installation. In the event that the hard disk system files are
overwritten, or that some other problem occurs, this diskette will
enable you to access the hard disk and correct the difficulty.

If for any reason you need to boot from diskette, use your working
diskette or a copy of your working diskette. Do NOT boot from a
normal DOS system diskette, as the system may not be able to see
your fixed drive properly and may overwrite your data.
..,1f

Vfeature Deluxe supports drives of up to 1 gigabyte capacity on most
bootable fixed disk controllers, including RLL, ESDI, SCSI, and ST506.

Vfeature Deluxe supports drives of up to 2048 cylinders on the newer
PC-AT controllers (WDC 1003 or 1005 compatible), and also on any "user
configurable" controller which can handle these.

If you wish to use Vfeature Deluxe to modify the drive parameters for
    the following controllers, then note:
      1. Older IBM XT controllers can not support wedge servo type drives.
      2. For the DTC 5150 controller, set switches 1, 2, and 4 on (closed)
         and all others off (open).
      3. For the NDC 5027 and 5127 controller, set switches 4, 5, and 8 off
(open) and all others on (closed).
      4. For the OMTI 8600 with ST506/412 drives, jumper W2, W3, W4.
      5. For the XEBEC 1210 and 1220, jumper all four drive option positions.

The "Bullet" computer's cache may interefere with the operation of some
disk controllers (e.g., the OMTI 6510). If so, disable the cache.

		    DOS BUFFERS and MEMORY REQUIREMENTS

DOS uses internal buffers to retain information about your disks. In most
cases, a minimum of 7.5 kbytes of buffers is required for good performance.
More buffer space may or may not improve performance, depending on the way
you have structured your disk and on what applications you run.

The memory used for DOS buffers is subtracted from the memory available to
run your applications, so you will want to choose the minimum size which is
consistent with good disk system perfomance.

The number of individual buffers is determined by the "buffers=" specifica-
tion in your CONFIG.SYS file. You may edit this file and change the number
of buffers to any number between 3 and 99.

Total memory used for your DOS buffers is the product of the number of DOS
buffers multiplied by individual buffer size. Individual buffer size is
the same as your maximum disk sector size which is dependent on the size of
your largest DOS volume or partition as follows:

    max partition size (Mb) 032 64 128 256 512 1024
    buffer size (kb) 0.5 1 2 4 8 16
..,1f

If you are using MS-DOS 3.1, your hard disk CONFIG.SYS file must reside in
the lower 33 megabytes of the hard disk. If you edit your CONFIG.SYS on a
disk with more than 33 megabytes of programs and data, the new copy of the
CONFIG.SYS file will probably be placed at the end of the your hard disk,
in which case you may not be able to boot-up from hard disk. If this does
happen, you MUST boot-up with your working Vfeature diskette to correct the
problem. If you carefully label and SAVE your working diskette, this will
be easy to do; if you discard, fold, spindle or mutilate your working disk-
ette, you will have to reinstall and make a new one!

If you need to move your CONFIG.SYS file to the beginning of the disk:
    1. Boot-up with your working Vfeature diskette.
    2. Copy your CONFIG.SYS file onto a scratch diskette.
    3. Enter "DEL C:CONFIG.*". This will delete both CONFIG.SYS and its
backup copy which is probably at the beginning of the disk.
    4. Reboot with your working Vfeature diskette.
    5. Copy the saved CONFIG.SYS file from diskette onto your hard disk.

If this sequence fails to work, you must delete some other file near the
beginning of the disk (step 3) to make room for CONFIG.SYS, then reboot and
  restore CONFIG.SYS (steps 4 and 5).

Included on this diskette is a licensed copy of Vkette, a resident
program which speeds up diskette operations. Backup, restore and
file copies to or from diskette run at least 3 times faster using
Vkette. Vkette may be copied onto your hard disk and started from
your autoexec.bat file, if you wish.

Vkette is part of our VCACHE package, described below, which speeds
up hard disk operation, by using your normal, extended, or expanded
     (EMS) memory--to 15 megabytes--for disk sector cacheing.
..,1b
You may wish to license the complete Vcache package . . .

	* Faster hard disk access--automatically caches
(remembers) disk data for rapid retrieval

	* Use up to 15 megabytes of expanded
or extended memory, or up to half a
megabyte of normal memory for cache

	* Immune to system crashes--no lost data

	* Handles multiple fixed disks--even
	  disks with non-standard sector sizes

	* Includes Vkette and Vscreen--diskette and
print screen operations up to 3 times faster

	* No user program modifications, or setup
	  required--Vcache installs with one command

		      Vcache $59.95
				plus $3.00 shipping and
				handling.

Also included with this diskette is a demonstration copy of our Vmap
program, which will show file fragments, unused sectors, and sectors
flagged as bad on your disks. Just enter "showvmap c;) to see how
well or poorly your fixed disk is organized.

Vmap is part of our VOPT package, which eliminates file fragmentation
FASTFASTFAST! When used daily, VOPT will usually complete in less
than a minute. VOPT is also SAFESAFESAFE! Vopt keeps disk files
safe even through a system crash or power failure while running.

Vopt also includes programs for benchmark testing of your system, set-
ing screen colors, plotting fixed disk seek time, measuring diskette
drive speed and diskette sector spacing, and certifying fixed disks and
diskettes, including mapping out bad clusters.

Vopt will also display vital information about currently active TSR's
(terminate and stay resident programs), including size and captured
     interrupts.

			 Vopt $59.95
				plus $3.00 shipping and
				handling.

You may also appreciate our OS/2 compatible Vtools package, which lets
you scan, change, move, or kill files, or even update whole sets of
files automatically. Also included with Vtools is a smart directory
change facility, a (DOS) directory sort program, and more . . .

And, for Network users, XENIX users, or people who just
want more out of their hard disk system . . .

     DUB-14

You may be losing disk capacity! More than 50 hard disk
drives were left out of the AT's Drive Table. Because of
this, your drives may be entered as a type with much less
capacity--you may be losing 10 to 20 percent of your true
     drive capacity.

DUB-14 allows a full range of true drive types, so you can
pick the one that's best for you. Any physically compatible
drive (including Syquest's removable media drives) can be
attached to the standard AT controller and accessed for full
     capacity.

DUB-14 is compatible with Novell 286 use too!

		      DUB-14 $95.00
				    plus $3.00 shipping and
				    handling.

And for super diskette duplication . . .

     SuperDuper

When it comes to making disk copies (180 and 360 Kb),
nothing works faster than SuperDuper. SuperDuper can
make simple disk copies in less than 40 seconds, or
completely format, copy, and data compare a diskette in
about 90 seconds (twice as fast as DOS). Multiple copies
of the same diskette can be made in even less time!

		     SuperDuper $49.95
				    plus $3.00 shipping and
				    handling.
