**BASE SKIN**
This skin was built from scratch using only the Grunt mesh as a guide.

**ABOUT THIS SKIN**
This skin (which is my first release) is based loosely on the "G.I. Joe" character Destro, who is the weapons supplier, right hand man, and occasional rival of the evil COBRA Commander. I found my old Destro action figure lying around, and since Destro's actual outfit is similar to the Grunt model in Q3A, I thought he might make a good skin. I did not go for a slavishly literal translation of the action figure. My intent was to create a Q3A interpretation that keeps the main features intact, but adds an appropriately battle-armored spin to it; sort of a "virtual action figure." It includes CTF red and blue skins, as well as bot support. Enjoy.

**BACKSTORY (cheese alert)**
While testing experimental high-powered energy weapons in his M.A.R.S. Laboratory in the Carpathians, James McCullen Destro unknowingly triggered a blast which created a dimension-spanning hyperteleportational rift. The unconscious Destro awoke on a hellish planet known only as Skith XII to find his ancestral mask fused to the flesh of his face. Originally slated to be sold into slavery by his Skith captors, Destro proved both his intelligence and weapons skill to his would-be slavers, earned his freedom in ritual combat and took up the mantle of bounty hunter and weapons developer for the Skith Overlords. Years later, on an uncharted jungle world, Destro was tracking an U'tha Twidd assassin with a penchant for using Skith skulls as table centerpieces at dinner parties. He chased the assasin to the edge of a mysterious energy vortex. There the two fought and, in the final throes of battle, fell into the vortex. Destro awoke in the Arena Eternal condemned to fight for eternity. He doesn't know what became of the U'tha Twidd, but is sure he'll encounter it again. And when he does, he has a special "thank you" gift for it.

**COMMENTS**
The chrome shader effect took me a while to get right. I ended up making a custom environment map from a photo I took. Feel free to use it on your own models and skins should you want to, but please credit me if you do. I've also clearly commented the shader code so that it will be easy to dissect.

If you like this skin or have any other comments on it, feel free to drop me a line.
