Welcome to the manual to the Navy Seals: Covert Operations Total Conversion for Quake 3: Arena (NS-CO for short). This manual will help you play and understand NS-CO. It deals with various facets of the game.

Of course some of you might not want to read through the entire manual right now, instead you just want to dive headlong into the action. For this there is also a quickstart text file included that gives you just a brief instruction on how to play. And in addition to that there are also helpful messages within the game that appear as you play along.

1.2 What is Navy Seals?

NS-CO is a Total Conversion for Quake3: arena. It is developed by Team-Mirage and our aim was and still is to create a realistic warfare simulator. You can either play on the side of the Navy SEALs, one of world's best military special operations units, or you can join forces with the tangos, terrorists, foreign forces or guerillas.

To be achieve our set game we have added many new weapons, features and player models to the game. You can find in depth information on those features in the appropriate sections of this document but for your information we have mentioned the most important features below:

  • Heaps of new and unique real-life weapons. Check the equipment section of this document for details.
  • Various Accessoires to be used on your weapons to improve them (Laser Pointer...)
  • Up to three different Weaponmodes per gun.
  • An realistic damage system with different damage locations. See the Gameplay section for details
  • Changed Player physics to increase the realism
  • The new and innovative Silent Scoreboard System.
  • An extensive set of radio commands.
  • The TASS Skill System to allow you to specialize on a certain style of play.
  • Different Objectives to accomplish to allow a multitude of user created missions.
  • New entities and Shader attributes to have more realistic and fun to play maps.
  • A completely redone and easy to use Graphical User Interface and HUD.
