====================================
Script:		ArenaScout 1.2c
Author:		fuel (fuel@daed.org)
Release:	December 31st, 2001
====================================

Requirements
============
Any type of internet connection
mIRC 5.9 32bit   (www.mirc.co.uk)
		 (5.91 also works, if you have troubles with 5.9 try 5.91)
Quake III: Arena (www.quake3arena.com)
                 ( 2000 id Software, Inc. All Rights Reserved)

Installation
============
Unzip the files to your mIRC 5.9 directory with the `Use folder names' option
in WinZip (www.winzip.com) checked. If you're using another util odds are you
know how to extract with paths. Do it.
Inside mIRC type the following:
  1. /remote on
  2. /load -rs arenascout\arenascout.mrc
If you're told that the script wants to run some commands choose Yes to run
them.
If you're installing over an old release, exit mIRC and then unzip and overwrite
the old script files, then reload mIRC and the new version will be loaded.

Once it's succesfully installed you can access the script by right clicking in
a channel window and at the bottom of your menu you will see `ascout.' Click
on it and you'll see more options. Experiment as you will, it's impossible to
screw anything up using the dialog alone.

You'll need to unlock the /run and /dll commands in order to launch the quake 3
executable and in order to parse the server information returned from the id
master server.

Getting Started
===============
You can access the script by right clicking in a channel window and at the
bottom of your menu you will see `ascout' - click this to load ArenaScout.
Once the GUI loads you can double click on a server from the list available
to retrieve information on that server.

You'll probably want to familiarize yourself with the GUI so you're encouraged
to play around with it. Any time you're not sure of what something does, look
it up under the help tab and it'll be listed on the left. Click it to find out
what it does.

You can doubleclick on server ip addresses in any window to query that server.

ArenaScout also has 2 command line aliases you can use.
1. /arenascout will load the GUI just as if you had used the popups.
2. /asback will set you back if you're away playing Q3 and change your nick
   if that option is selected, as well as announce the fact that you're back.
   (you can also use /.asback to hide the announcement.)

About
=====
ArenaScout is based on the concept of mIRCScout by Istari (istari@x-stream.se)
which was to have a fully functional q3a server browser work from within mIRC.
I worked on mIRCScout and modified the interface and added a number of options.
Most people who use ArenaScout will be familiar with mIRCScout so they
shouldn't really have to read anymore. There's a help section included in
ArenaScout so you can have whatever other questions you might have answered
there.

You store servers in your list of favorites and then double click on the IP
from the dialog interface and you're returned information about that server.
You are told the hostname, players/frags/ping, your ping, gametype, timelimit,
fraglimit, max clients and private clients, and if applicable, the blue and
red avg ping and scores. You can add players to the blue or red team and remove
them from teams altogether.
Passwords are stored by server automatically once you type it in the password
box. When you refresh a server that has a password stored it is automatically
recalled so you don't have to type it again.

There is an easy, wide list format, servers list you can manage. For more info
see the help section under "Servers."

ArenaScout includes the ability to search for servers either empty or populated,
by a specific gametype, a specific gamename, and/or a player's name (or partial
name including wildcards; ie: *dna*) Searches can be made to use any combination
of fields.

There are also some options to make it easy for your friends to find you.
Included are the options to set away with your game server ip:port in your away
message and the option to enable people to type "?as" (minus the quotation marks
of course) and they are told the server you connected to via ArenaScout.

Also included is the ability to store a list of friends that you can search
for using the search functions. Add a friend and then you may search for them
by clicking on the dropdown button of the player search field and choosing their
nick from there.

And last, aside from the help section, is the master list tab. Here you can
retrieve a list of all quake 3 servers that the id master server has collected
and then ping them and apply filters and then add them to your list of favorites
if you like.

Levelshots
==========
A number of levels (the common/standard) levels have zip files with their
screenshots available in them. I've seperated them from the script to keep
filesizes down on any subsequent releases of ArenaScout.
When you download a zip archive of screenshots simply unzip to the
arenascout\images directory. Once the pictures are in there you'll see them
whenever that level is being played on a server you query in ArenaScout.
There are a number of sets of levelshots which you can download from here:

Legal
=====
You may not copy any part of ArenaScout without my permission. You can contact
me at fuel@daed.org if you wish to ask. As for the two pieces of code I took
straight from my modified version of mIRCScout, you'll have to contact Istari
and get his permission to use it. I'm not claiming they're my own pieces of
code (the hotlinks and the color parsing routine) and I have his permission
regardless.
All portions of ArenaScout, except where otherwise stated, are mine and as such
copyrighted by myself. No piece of code may be used without prior consent of
it's author. This script may be redistributed privately without any obligations.
If someone would like to publicly distribute it, it must be for free, as is,
and I must be notified prior to redistribution.
