This directory contains the build scripts and other miscellaneous
files that are needed to build the ZipSpeak mini-distribution of
Linux, which is based on the ZipSlack distribution and the Speakup
screen reader. This file contains some brief notes regarding the
build scripts.

The vars.sh file contains the version numbers for Slackware, Speakup,
and the Linux kernel being used in the current version of ZipSlack.
It also contains addresses for the Slackware and Speakup FTP sites.
Update these as needed.

To download the necessary source files to build the distribution, run
the downloadsrc script. You need wget in order to use this.

To build the whole distribution, run the buildstd script. Note that
you need to have an actual 3.5-inch floppy disk in /dev/fd0 in order
to build the boot disk images. If you know how to do this without an
actual floppy disk, please let me know.

The MS-DOS file system used in the build process is stored in an image
file under the build directory. You need the mkdosfs program in order
to make this file system.

The synths file contains Speakup identifiers for the supported
synthesizers (DTLK, LTLK, and so on), in upper case. Update this as
more synthesizer drivers are added. If you can figure out how to
automatically produce this list, please let me know.

That's all for now.

Enjoy,
Matt Campbell
