Use "talk" to have a real time communication session with another person on
the internet.  You'll need to know the login of the other person, i.e.,
smith@lion.mit.edu, and they must be currently logged on (use "finger" to
check).

There are many versions of in use on the Internet and they are not all
compatible.  If you try to talk to someone on a system using an incompatible
version, the attempt will fail, usually with a "Waiting for invitation ..."
message.

When you talk, your screen is split into two portions.  Your typing, i.e.,
talking, appears on the top portion and your fellow talker's words appear
on the bottom portion.  To end your talk session type Control-C.

If you want to receive talk requests from others, you'll need to choose
"Customizing your account" in the main menu and then select one of the
"enable" options in "Enable/disable receiving "talk" requests" menu.
