README for gnome-linuxconf
==========================

gnome-linuxconf should talk to most recent versions of linuxconf; while
the spec file asks for 1.12r2 or higher, that's just for treemenu support,
and it will in reality talk to older version with an uglier, less usable
interface.

If you want to hack on gnome-linuxconf, PLEASE talk to me first. Send
email to johnsonm@redhat.com and let me know what you have in mind.
Otherwise I reserve the right to just revert anything but obvious bug
fixes. :-)

Some plans for the future:

Make it impossible to get two of the same tab at the same time
	in the treemenu interface.

Make sure any icons transmitted are scaled to a reasonable
size with imlib (not a priority because linuxconf sends no
	icons right now).

Move to gnome-mdi for the notebook tabs (I used notebooks
so that it would work with gtk 1.0 and old gnome libs).

Work with Jacques to have a reasonable HTML help text
	presentation.

Consider some sort of integration with control-center, but
that integration would have to be deeper than a caplet, I
	think. Hmmmm.
