===========================README.TXT============================== Welcome to the C/C++ Users Group CDROM, June 1996 edition! This CDROM gives you the entire C/C++ Users Group Library through Volume 445 a collection of more than a 250 megabytes of user supported C source code. Most of the source code is for DOS, with several recent volumes for Unix. This edition now includes an offline copy of the CUG website as well as a complimentary copy of the I-VIEW offline web browser. I-VIEW is licensed exclusively for use with the CUG CDROM. Of course, if you have a preferred web browser (such as Netscape) you can use this as well. The "home" document is D:\HTMLDOCS\INDEX.HTM, assuming 'D:' is your cdrom drive. CUG is live on the Internet at http://www.HAL9K.com/cug/ Please stop in and fill out the CUG New Member Survey! ===================================================================== Quick Start Instructions: Windows 3.1/NT/95 ----------------- Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run. At the Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive. This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom. Under Windows 95, inserting the cdrom into the cdrom drive will also automatically start a CDROM browser program called WinView. Important: the Windows install program no longer installs the MS-DOS viewer as a Windows icon. This was done to reduce the number of viewers (would be 3 including I-VIEW) and Windows users have no need for the MS-DOS viewer anyways. If you want to run the MS-DOS viewer under windows, please read the instructions below. Thanks. MSDOS ----- Change to your CDROM drive and type "view". For example: C:\> D: D:\> view ==================================================================== Manual Installation of Offline Web Browser The D:\SETUP.EXE program should do the installation for you, however in the event of failure, here's how to do it yourself. * Use the supplied I-VIEW offline HTML browser to read our catalog with detailed descriptions. Windows: Go to "Program Manager" and choose "File|Run", set the command line to D:\VIEWHTML\I-VIEW D:\HTMLDOCS\INDEX.HTM and hit OK, assuming that 'D:' is your cdrom drive. * Alternately, you may use your Netscape or other HTML browser choose "File|Open" or similar option and choose the file D:\HTMLDOCS\INDEX.HTM ==================================================================== WINZIP on board! Nico Mac Computing, Inc. has supplied the award-winning WinZip unzipper for use with Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Windows NT. You'll need this utility to unpack "tarred and gzipped" files which are designated with the extension ".TZ" or ".GZ" on the disc. WinZip will automatically recognize these and know how to open them. It will also handle "tarred" files which are designated with the extension ".TAR" on the disc. To install Winzip, run the following program and it will autodetect and install the correct version for your Windows OS level. D:\WINZIP\SETUP.EXE CUG encourages you to evaluate WinZip and register it if you find it useful. Visit them on the web at http://www.winzip.com/ ==================================================================== Here is a list of important files and directories: readme.txt This file. view.exe MS-DOS Shell Program to view files and descriptions setup.exe Windows 3.1/NT/95 Setup program 00_index.txt List of directories. cdrom.mdb CUG volume info in MS Access database w/HTML generator docs/capsule.txt Capsule descriptions of each file in Volumes 100-382. docs/catalog.txt Catalog of each CUG Library volume, Vol 100-411. docs/cat_v100.txt Catalog of each CUG Library volume, Vol 100-199. docs/cat_v200.txt Catalog of each CUG Library volume, Vol 200-299. docs/cat_v300.txt Catalog of each CUG Library volume, Vol 300-399. docs/cat_v400.txt Catalog of each CUG Library volume, Vol 400-437. htmldocs/ Root directory for offline web browsing htmldocs/index.htm CUG offline Home Page for web browsing htmldocs/title.htm Index of CUG volumes by Title htmldocs/subject.htm Index of CUG volumes by Subject htmldocs/platform.htm Index of CUG volumes by Operating System or CPU htmldocs/author.htm Index of CUG volumes by Author Name htmldocs/language.htm Index of CUG volumes by Language (C/C++/ASM/etc.) htmldocs/whatsnew.htm What's New at the CUG listings/ Source code listings from The C/C++ Users Journal. treeinfo.ncd Norton's CD tree info. viewhtml/i-view.exe I-VIEW Offline web browser vol_100/ CUG Library volumes 100-199. vol_200/ CUG Library volumes 200-299. vol_300/ CUG Library volumes 300-399. vol_400/ CUG Library volumes 400-445. winzip/setup.exe Install program for WinZip and WinZip 95 zipped/ All the CUG Library volumes compressed in zip archives. _bbs/ BBS support files. ===================================================================== The C/C++ Users Group welcomes submissions for inclusion in the C/C++ User Group Library.
