Description

Returns a reference to the form the element is embedded on.

Syntax

Remarks

Returns null if the element is not on a form.

frame

Description

Controls the appearance of the border frame around the table.

Syntax

object.frame[ = frame]

Settings

Possible values include;
above Displays a border on the top side of the border frame.
below Displays a border on the bottom side of the table frame.
border Displays a border on all sides of the table frame.
box Displays a border on all sides of the table frame.
hsides Displays a border on the top and bottom sides of the table frame.
lhs Displays a border on the left side of the table frame.
rhs Displays a border on the right side of the table frame.
void Removes all outside table borders.
vsides Displays a border on the left and right sides of the table frame.

Remarks

The default value for this property is void, that is, display no borders.

frameBorder

Description

Specifies whether or not to display a border for the frame.

Syntax

object.frameBorder[ = frameBorder]

Remarks

Valid values are 0 and 1, with 0 specifying no border and 1 specifying an inset border. In addition, "Yes" and "No" are supported corresponding to 1 and 0, respectively. Invalid settings default to turning on borders.

This property has read-write permissions, meaning you can change as well as retrieve its current value.

frameSpacing

Description

Creates additional space between the frames, in pixels.

Syntax

object.frameSpacing[ = frameSpacing]

Remarks

The amount defined for frameSpacing does not include the width of the frame border. Frame spacing can be set on one or more FRAMESET elements and applies to the contained FRAMESET elements unless the contained FRAMESET defines a different frame spacing.

The default spacing is 2 pixels.

fromElement

Description

Specifies the element being moved from the onmouseover and onmouseout events.

Description

Sets or returns the subsection of the href property that follows the # symbol.

Syntax

object.hash[ = hash]

Remarks

If there is no hash, this property returns an empty string.

This property is useful for moving to a bookmark within a document. Assigning an invalid value does not cause an error.

Description

Returns the vertical resolution of the screen, in pixels.

Sets or retrieves the CSS height attribute of the element.

object.height[ = height]

Settings

The value of this read-write property is a string consisting of a floating-point number and a units designator, as described for cascading style sheets.

To carry out operations on the numeric value of this property, use pixelHeight or posHeight.

Description

Specifies the size at which the element is drawn.

Syntax

object.height

Settings

This property specifies the calculated height of the element, in pixels. For table rows and table cells, this property has a range of 0 to 32750 pixels.

If the value of the corresponding HTML attribute was set using a percentage, this property specifies the height in pixels represented by that percentage.

This property is read-write for the IMG element, but read-only for other elements.

Hidden

Description

Forces the embedded element to be invisible.

host

Description

Sets or retrieves the hostname:port part of the location or URL.

Syntax

object.host[ = host]

Settings

This read-write property is the concatenation of the hostname and port properties, separated by a colon. When the port property is null, the host property is the same as the hostname property.

You can set the host property at any time, although it is safer to set the href property to change a location. If the host that you specify cannot be found, you will get an error.

Specifies the host name part of the location or URL.

Description

Specifies an SGML identifier used for naming elements. Valid names to script with are any alphanumeric string that begins with a letter. Valid special characters include the underbar, "_".

indeterminate

Description

Changes the user interface of a check box to have a dimmed background to represent an indeterminate state. When indeterminate is set, the check box will appear checked, but dimmed. The value of indeterminate is independent of the values for the checked and the status properties.

Syntax

object.indeterminate[ = indeterminate]

Settings

This read-write property is TRUE if the check box is dimmed, or FALSE otherwise. The default value for this property is FALSE.

This property does not remove whether the element is checked and is different than disabling the control. A check box in the indeterminate state can still receive the focus. When the user clicks an indeterminate button, the indeterminate state is turned off and the check box is appropriately checked or unchecked.

index

Description

Returns the ordinal position of the option in the list box.

innerHTML

Description

Sets or retrieves the HTML between the start and end tags of the current element.

Syntax

object.innerHTML[ = innerHTML]

Settings

This read-write property takes a string containing a valid combination of text and HTML tags, except for <html>, <head>, and <title> tags.

When setting this property, the given string completely replaces the existing content of the element. If the string contains HTML tags, the string is parsed and formatted as it is placed into the document.

Note You cannot set this property while the document is loading. Wait for the onload event before attempting to set it. If a tag is dynamically created using TextRange, innerHTML, or outerHTML, you can only use JScript to create new events to handle the newly formed tags. VBScript is not supported.

Description
