    3. What type of PC do I need to run Caldera DR-WebSpyder?

This beta release requires a 386 or better with at least 4Mb RAM. It will work with most graphics cards with at least 256 colors in resolutions up to 1600x1200. You will need about 10Mb of free disk space to install the product and for the cache.

4.How do I Use Caldera DR-WebSpyder to surf the Internet?

You can connect to the Internet in two ways:

If you work on a LAN which has an Internet connection, you can set up your connection using your network card and normal Internet settings. When you install DR-WebSpyder you choose your network card and enter your Internet details such as your IP address. If you do not know these, ask your network administrator.

Alternatively, you can use a modem to dial in to your Internet service provider. You will need an account with a service provider who will then provide you with the necessary information. The settings you need to provide DR-WebSpyder will be provided by your service provider such as IP address and Gateway address. Your ISP must be able to support PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) (e.g. AOL does not).

    5. How do I get a copy of Caldera DR-WebSpyder?

You can downoad an evaluation version from Caldera's Web site at Caldera.com. Please fill out the registration form so that we can keep a record of who downloads the software and to try and keep you up-to-date with future releases. The download file is a disk image file so you can create your own bootable 1.44 MB diskette.

You can purchase a single user commercial CD from our online shopping store. OEMs and system integrators can purchase the DR-System Builder Kit for implementing DR-DOS and DR-WebSpyder into their solutions.

    6. I have tried to download Caldera DR-WebSpyder, but can't.

Our server is often busy so please try at different times of the day. We hope to add some mirror sites as soon as possible to make it easier to download our software. If you still have any problems, please contact us at webmaster@caldera.com.

    7. I can't log in to my Internet Service Provider

If you have difficulties logging in to your ISP, please try the following:

Check that the phone number, login name and password are correct in the DR-WebSpyder setup pages.

If the "Use a script file" check box is not selected in the setup pages, DR-WebSpyder uses the PAP protocol to log in. If your ISP does not support PAP, you need to use a script file.

If you need to use a script file or the ISP has given details about using one, you need to set it up in the DR-WebSpyder setup pages. Go to the Dialer Settings page and select the "Use Script File" check box. You can specify a filename for the script file in the text box provided. When you click the Save button on that page, the dial script will be displayed. If no dial script was specified or the filename you entered was for a new one, a blank script file is shown for you to add the script file commands. If the script file you specified already contains commands, the file will be displayed ready for viewing or editing. The script files are Windows 95 compatible.

Make sure the baud rate and COM port are correctly set.

DR-WebSpyder is set up to use tone or pulse dialing. By default, it is set to Tone but you can change this setting in the setup pages of DR-WebSpyder.

The line may be busy so try again later.
