"My name is spyd, ax25spyd" [1]

This is ax25spyd (formerly known as monixd), a daemon that listens
for AX.25 packets from the kernel-AX.25. These packets are decoded
(like listen(1)) but not displayed on the screen.

Other programs can connect to ax25spyd via sockets and issue commands.
They will get all heard AX.25-packets in a human-readable format, an
mheard structure, DX-cluster messages or spydata.

The program ax25spy is a demo program for ax25spyd. It uses the
TCP port 14090 to connect to a running ax25spyd and issue commands.
The answers of ax25spyd will be read by ax25spy and be displayed.

You can also use port 14091 and 14092; no commands are possible here.
On 14091 all packets are shown in readable format, so you can telnet
to it. On 14092 the packet are exactly copied, but preceded with
a four byte, intel-ordered int size.

An X-window program using ax25spyd is MonKT by Jochen Sarrazin DG6VJ,

Read the manual (man ax25spy) for further information on ax25spy.

Read the file INSTALL for installing instruction.
Read the file COPYING for licensing information.

   New versions are on

If you have access to the german packet radio net, you may want to
check on to the AX.25-BBS DB0IZ (call: DB0IZ-11). Issue the command
"l dg9ep ax25spy" to search for the newest version of ax25spyd.

ax25spy(d) has been developed and tested under Linux 2.0.36, glibc2
   with debian2 fs-layout.
It may not run on 2.2 kernels, because the ax25-stack has been heavily
altered. Please report problems or success with 2.2 kernels to me.
   (ax25spyd 0.20 runs with linux 2.2.1 and the dg2fef ax25-stuff).

			  THIS PROGRAM IS ALPHA!

The commands, the internal IDs and everything else may change in the
   future.

ax25spyd contains a lot of code from listen(1) and ax25mond(8) and now
very little from wwwoffled(8). It was glued together by Walter Koch
DG9EP, <walter@1409.org>. [The README and the INSTALL are written by
   Rob, DL1NC, <rob@1409.org> ].
