Welcome to the HYBROW Navigation Tutorial.

It will show you how to move about in HYBROW.

This tutorial will take about 10 to 20 mins depending on how fast you
read...

To forget about it, press the LEFT arrow key
to get back to the previous menu.

If you wish to continue with the tutorial,
follow the instruction below ... ie. press the SPACEBAR...

Navigation
----------
First we must learn how to navigate through this hypertext tutorial.

Embedded in the text you are reading are square brackets which may be
highlighted by using the up (k) or down (j) arrow keys to move from one pair
of brackets to another.

******************************************************************************
* These brackets signify another layer of information for you to enter into. *
******************************************************************************

Often, some keyword is enclosed that will give you a clue as to what it will
lead to. Most of the time, the context will tell you what selecting
the option will do.

To enter the option, you can press either the ENTER or the right arrow key.
Options look like:

    [tutorial2:] or [tutorial2:name_of_option]

To get out of an option back to where you were, use the LEFT arrow key. Try!

Hence the right and left arrow keys allow you to traverse the link from one
document to another, and back.

GOOD, let's move on to navigating up and down several options in a display.

Here are a number of options. Use the up and down arrow keys to
move the highlight from one option to another.

	[tutorial2:1]

	[tutorial2:2]

        [tutorial2:3]

	[tutorial2:4] [tutorial2:5] [tutorial2:6]

	[tutorial2:7]

Note the way the arrow keys move, ie. in the order of the numbers.
Note also that they cycle from 9 back to 1 or vice versa, within a screen.

Question:

In the previous screen, what is the fastest way of getting to option 7
   from option 1?

Hint: To try it again, press the "b" key to get "b"ack to the previous
screen to try it out again.

Answer:

Since the arrow keys cycle within a screen, you can press the up arrow
key only once from option 1 and the highlight will jump backwards (ie
   downwards) to option 7.

So it will be faster to use the up arrow key to move to option 5, say,
than to move down from 1 through to 5.

To try this, get back to the previous page using any of the following methods

Press the "b" key for "back" or
Press the "-" key
and practise a couple of times.

So let up recapitulate:

To go into an option: press RETURN or the right arrowkey

To get out of it: press the left arrowkey or "h"

To move about: use the up or down arrowkey.

To move to the next page: use the space bar or press "+" key

To move to the previous page: press the "-" key or the "b" key.

-------------------------------

Congratulations for having made it so far. If you can't remember how
to navigate at any stage, just press the help button!

That button is the "?" key.
When you have finished with the help display, get back using LEFT arrowkey.
Try it now.

The other PANIC button you might wish to use in case of desperation is:

"q" to quit

or worse

Control-C (press the CONTROL key with the "C" key together and deliberately)

                       ----------------------------

Additional types of links:
--------------------------

There is another type of option which you can select, and
that is the field-filling option.

You can identify it by the presence of 2 vertical "pipes" flanking
a blank space. The following an example:

[$dummy=!echo; echo You have typed $dummy ; sleep 4]

To fill in the blank, press the right arrow key or RETURN.
You will then be taken into the field and you will be able to
type in whatever is required of you in the blank space.

Within the blank space, you can use the arrow right and left keys
to move about right and left. You can use the backspace key to
delete characters which you have incorrectly typed in.

When you have finished, press RETURN.

This will take the value of the characters you have typed in and
depending on what the option entails, it will carry out an
action based on what you have typed, eg. a filename that you
wish to delete, etc.

Recently we put in yet another link, called the Directory Browser link.

This enables you to browse through your directories just by using
left and right arrow, up and down arrow keys

[!BROWSE:Directory Browser] Select this to try, and don't forget,
LEFT arrow to get back here.

That's it for the HYBROW navigation tutorial.
Goodbye and all the best.
