The Network Queueing System (NQS) is a powerful UNIX batch
processing system, and has become the de facto industry standard,
with compatible implementations available both commercially and
	freely via the Internet.

Monsanto-NQS is based on the original COSMIC NQS v1, with
enhancements from COSMIC NQS v2, CERN NQS, Boeing, and many other
contributors. It is currently maintained by the University of
Sheffield, under grant NTI/48.2 from the Joint Information Systems
	Committee of the UK.

	Introduction
----------------------------

	--------------------
	Welcome To Monsanto-NQS

----------------------------
	System Requirements
----------------------------

	--------------------
	Operating System

Monsanto-NQS is known to work with the following operating systems :

	*  AIX, HPUX 8 or 9, IRIX 4,5 or 6, Linux 1.x, NCR, OSF/1 1.3, 2 or
	   3.x, Solaris 2.x.

Earlier versions of Monsanto-NQS also ran on SunOS 4 and ULTRIX.
Monsanto-NQS has not been tested on these platforms recently, and
	   so may not work.

In addition, Monsanto-NQS v3.50 or later is designed to function on
any version of UNIX which is SYSVr4 or POSIX compliant, and supports
the BSD socket interface. If you successfully use Monsanto-NQS on
an operating system not already listed, please email me and let me
	know.

While Monsanto-NQS v3.50 or later should also work on any BSD 4.3
compliant version of UNIX, this configuration is UNTESTED and
UNSUPPORTED. If anyone wants to actively support such a
	configuration, please get in touch.

	--------------------
	Compiler & Libraries

	Monsanto-NQS requires an ANSI C compiler & libraries. Older K&R C
compilers are no longer supported. If your operating system vendor
does not supply an ANSI C compiler, then you may wish to consider
using the GNU C compiler, available freely via the Internet.
Monsanto-NQS is developed on Linux 1.3.x, using the GNU C 2.7.x
	compiler.

Future versions of Monsanto-NQS will also require the use of a C++
	compiler and libraries.
