This package is Seth Robertson's Xkernel 2.0 (available from
sol.ctr.columbia.edu) with modifications and special additions to get
it to run under Linux. Seth's package is much more impressive, with
auto install scripts and lots of options. If you need those options,
you may wish to get his package and add them. You should start with
this package, since it has the following things not in Seth's
package:

1) A modified Sun3 kernel that does 1k NFS. This avoids the problems with
IP fragmentation that still linger in Linux kernels with 8k NFS.
   (See README-Sun3-kernel-mods.)

2) Source for various Linux network programs that you may be missing
or of which you may have outdated versions.

3) A few minor config file modifications to correct problems with Linux not
being quite the same as a Sun. For instance, the 100dpi font directory
is removed from the fontserver config file, since it is often not
present on Linux systems. Also, the Sun3 init was modified to do -query
instead of -indirect. The xdm-login-accounting.c included here compiles
under Linux and works on my system. There may be other changes,
but this is all I can remember offhand. Really not too much. Seth
has done a great job of making the package flexible to different
   conditions.

4) A set of instructions. They're not Seth's install scripts, but they're
not too bad. In particular, I think the debugging info at the end may
   be of some help.

I assume this package will eventually become part of Seth's Xkernel
distribution. Does anyone want to work on this?
