Bagpipe.tex is a macro-package for use on top of MusicTeX or
MusixTeX, which are macro-packages for use with TeX or LaTeX.
TeX is a language designed for typesetting technical documents,
is public domain, and is available for most platforms.
Musi[c|x]TeX were written and are maintained by Daniel Taupin.
They are available via anonymous ftp at CTAN sites,
and ftp.gmd.de. Version 3.01 of bagpipe.tex works with
MusicTeX version 5.20 and MusixTeX version T.88. Since it redefines a few
Musi(c|x)TeX macros, it may not work with later versions without modification.
It definitely does not work with versions of MusicTeX earlier than 4.7.

MusixTeX differs from MusicTeX in that it relies on a three pass
system to adjust the spacing instead of glue (stretchable space).
MusixTeX is also the version under active development and has
many features which MusicTeX does not. Most of these are
irrelevant for bagpipe music. I recommend the use of
MusicTeX unless some unique feature of MusixTeX is desired.

Notes: *.tex, *.ini, and *.mf are ascii.
You may have to modify some settings to get your browser to
download these files. The sample tunes and quickref in this

History:

Version 1.30 improves the handling on odd and even margins,
and turns the flags on double internal short notes within beams
outward.

Version 1.40 fixes a couple of beam macros, makes some
adjustments for tight spacings, adds a couple of new
pickup note macros, and adjusts the margins of wide pages.

Version 1.41 adds definitions for \h and \N to ease conversion of
oldpitch to newpitch.

Version 1.53 adds grace notes to match BMW, \medtall, \ggr{},
and includes nine point fonts for gracenotes with musicsize=16.
Actually the 9 pt fonts were broken and fixed in 2.20.
It also has more four note beamed groups defined. Modified to
clean up interface to MusicTeX 5.17.

Version 1.57 adds some more beam macros, \Afour and \USletter,
double dots, and \bgrx to work around beam macro problem.

Version 2.02 adds multiple parts, a new grace note spacing scheme,
a no autoglue option, and removes \bgrx.

Version 2.10 adds MusixTeX compatibility.

Versions 2.11 and 2.21 are minor single macro bug fixes

Version 2.20 restores 9 point fonts. These are useful for small music.

Version 2.21 fixes \bstst bug.

Version 3.0 adds many embellishments for compatibility with
bww2tex. Many are particularly useful for piobaireachd.

Version 3.01 fixes some cadence bugs.
