Mounting a PVCS Directory

Polytron Version Control System (PVCS) is not provided with the IDE, so you must already have PVCS installed on your system before you can mount a PVCS filesystem.

To mount a PVCS directory:

1. If you have not already done so, choose Versioning  Mount Version Control  Generic VCS from the main window to open the New Generic VCS wizard.
2. In the Version Control System Profile combo box, select the PVCS configuration for your platform or for the platform that most closely matches yours.
3. In the Project Database text field, type the location of your project database, which is the central location of all projects, subprojects, and versioned files.

   You can also click the Select button to search for all project databases. The dialog box contains three choices:

• Database Location Path. Lets you type or browse to the project database location.
• Select a Database Used By PVCS GUI. Displays all of the databases registered with your PVCS GUI program.
• Look for Databases In. Searches any directory for all project databases. You can enter a directory path or browse to a directory.

Your project database must be mounted locally on your system. For Microsoft Windows systems, the project database computer must be mapped to your computer. For UNIX systems, the project database computer must be mounted as a UNIX filesystem.

4. If you want to work with an individual project, type or browse to the project name in the Project Name text field. You must mount all projects at their package root in order to compile them correctly.
5. In the Workfiles Location text field, type the location of your local copy of the versioned files.
6. If you want to configure advanced options or environment variables, click Next to view the Advanced and Environment panes of the wizard.
7. Click Finish to close the New Generic VCS wizard and mount the filesystem.

A new VCS filesystem node appears in the Filesystems tab in the Explorer. The filesystem is represented by a purple VCS filesystem icon () followed by the name of the filesystem's VCS profile and the name of the working directory. The VCS status for each file appears in brackets after its name.
