Poppy v3.1
----------

Thanks for checking out "poppy". Poppy is a small perl script that
allows you to perform simple tasks on a POP3 or IMAP server. It is of most
use in a "limited resources environment" whether thats low disk space,
slow internet connection, or no graphical environment.

Poppy will individually show the mail headers along with the message's
size of each message on the mail server and then allow you to read,
delete, reply, or perform other tasks on that message.

This way you do not have to download that 1meg file your "Friend" sent you
before you read the messages after it. Please refer to the included manual
pages for detailed description of all its options and how to edit
Poppy's configuration file.

Poppy is very easy to set up although it may require manually editing
the script itself. Please read below for instructions on editing the
script and installing poppy.

Installing Poppy
----------------

First, make sure that the first line in poppy has the correct path
to your version of perl.

Next, if your running this under Win95/NT then you may wish to change the
variable $cfgfilename to point to some place more DOS-like where you wan't
to store a config file. If your running under Perl4 then you will want
to verify that AF_INET and SOCK_STREAM variables are set correctly for
your OS.

There are a few more variables that you can change their values but
most can also be set by command line options.

When running poppy for the first time, it will help you create a
configuration file. After that you will need to modify it with a
text edit if you need to set additional features.
