October Record Month For UK Mirror Service
The University of Kent Computing Laboratory's UK Mirror Service has had its busiest month yet, racking up over 154 tebibytes of outbound traffic -- equivalent to more than two hundred thousand CDs in total, or five CDs a minute. This was primarily due to openSUSE and Ubuntu releases during the last month. Usage peaked at about seven and a half thousand concurrent downloads with a peak data rate of 935 Mbits/s.
Heavy usage looks likely to continue, with the release from the Fedora Project causing another surge at the beginning of this month.
