The UK Mirror Service Team
The UK Mirror Service is run by a small team of information and computing professionals based at the University of Kent Computer Science Department.
Director
Tim Hopkins is director of the service at Kent and has been involved in mirror services since 1989 with HENSA Unix.
Tim's role in the UK Mirror Service is contributed by the University of Kent where he is a Reader in Numerical Computing.
Senior Computing Officer
Phillip Camp operates the UK Mirror Service and responsible for the development of new systems to enhance the effective running of the service.
Since graduation from the University of Kent at Canterbury Phill gained experience in programming and system administration within the university's Computing Science systems group.
Software Developer
Adam Sampson does C, C++, Perl and Python development at the UK Mirror Service: he implemented the rsync server, a high-performance caching filesystem, and a variety of other improvements to the mirroring, file serving and administration software.
After experience writing mechanical simulation software for Ricardo Consulting Engineers and developing web applications for Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, Adam joined the service in 2002 as an undergraduate student at the University of Kent, and continues there after graduating in 2004.
Former Members
We would like to thank the many former members of the UK Mirror Service team -- in particular, Iain Fothergill and Claire Moore at the University of Lancaster, and Yang He, Dave Beckett and Mark Russell at the University of Kent -- for the hard work and effort they put in to help develop and run our services. Many of their contributions are still in day-to-day use on mirrorservice.org.
